Big Brain (G.Lynch & R.Granger, © 2008, Palgrave Macmillan)

Big Brain is an exploration of humans' large brains, and those of our recent ancestors.  The book is both scholarly (with hundreds of scientific references and end-notes) and speculative, probing realms that are suggested by scientific findings and considering hypotheses of still-unexplained phenomena.  The authors marshal findings from state-of-the-art neuroscience, genetics, evolution, physical anthropology, population biology, and computational modeling to ask key questions such as how our brains got to be the way they are, where our extant brains came from, and where they perhaps may be headed.

The book has received extremely positive reviews from well-known and highly reputed reviewers such as William Calvin and Anthony Doerr, in venues from Discover Magazine to the Boston Globe, as well as many others.
